It's only a matter of seconds before it becomes clear the Normandy is going down, and evacuating everyone from the ship is the only option. The scene shifts to the Normandy, where Shepard and crew are combing the edges of the galaxy in search of any remaining Geth threats when danger strikes. Shepard is in trouble, and both agree that keeping Shepard alive is imperative for the sake of the galaxy. Before joining the Normandy crew, the game begins with a cutscene featuring Miranda Lawson in conversation with the Illusive Man.
